Hi Group

Newbie here so please go easy one me, I have posted an introduction !. Long time Peugeot owner who has just acquired a 307 1.6 HDi 2004 with 82k on the clock.

I have always had models with basic air conditioning systems fitted but this has an automatic air con/ climate control system. I have looked through this site and found information on basic systems and duel zone automatic systems, however nothing on the system mine has fitted. It appears that, unsurprisingly, it is a generic Peugeot unit fitted to many cars until about 2005.

The control unit in the car looks like

The problem I have is that on occasions, and especially if the car has been standing in warm weather, the climate control system works for a period of time and then switches off. The display stays on as normal with no error message displayed but the fans don't turn on no matter what speed I select, also the flaps do not move. Running the system in manual or auto mode, or having A/C or Eco selected has no effect. After a period of time the system fires up again and runs for another short period until once more it shuts down. The cycle repeats its self for the whole of my journey.

It is as if the system shuts down completely leaving me with no ventilation. At the present time it is not to much hassle, as I open a window. I want to get the system sorted as I don't know what will happen in winter and this will leave me with no demisters. When it runs everything works heater control/direction control and A/C on and off.

As I am not very technical minded I do not want to get ripped off by local garages or air con specialists. If anyone knows of a reputable specialist who is good at diagnosing these problems in the Shropshire/Staffordshire or West Midlands area please let me know.

I have posted this in general discussion as the problem may occur with other models with the same unit fitted.

If you have read this far, thanks for your attention.

Many Thanks in anticipation.
Dave

Most likely wiring problems on the fan itself its a common issue the contacts heat up it stops working they cool down you hit a bump whatever and they connect again for a while then repeats

Thanks both for your prompt response. Sorry to ask a stupid question but will I need to change the heater motor, the wiring harness or both.

I have looked on line for replacement motors and harnesses and there is conflicting information about fitment. Do I have to take the old motor out to find the original part number for the motor and harness or are they a standard fitment.

Is it a very hard job to take the old one out just to find the part number, I am not very technically minded but am ok with a screwdriver.

Thanks again guys for the advice.

When was pollen filter last changed, if its blocked it will overwork then fan and speed controller will overheat and shut fan off. I would look at a faulty speed controller on fan next

Hi Windy, thanks for the advice. I changed the pollen filter when I acquired the car last week. I didn't think the system I have installed has the speed controller that gives a lot of grief. Sorry to be a pain but where would I find it, or does it form part of the motor.

Thanks Again
