Is this a worthy upgrade?

I've owned my 1.4hdi 307 for 8 years and I feel like a change.

The 307 had a map, egr blank and decat about 7 years ago and it really transformed it.

I'm thinking now that I'd like to go for a 308 1.6hdi sport, then add a map and a few other bits.

But is it a worthy upgrade?

How does the 308 compare?

Many thanks
Ben.

I traded in a 2004 307 for a 2011 308 and was happy with the 308. Both were diesels and returned pretty good fuel economy. The two were pretty much equal as far as reliability goes. The 308 had more toys and the seats were more comfortable. This could have been due to the amount of use they had but they were also designed better.

I'm on my 4th Peugeot and my son is on his second. All 6 cars have been very reliable. The only issues we have experienced are the expected wear & tear items like brakes, springs. I replaced a clutch in the 307 at around 130k and replaced the timing belt on two of the cars (1 mine and my sons first car) due to mileage and no record of them being changed).

I went to a 308 from a 307 and was disappointed. Poor engines, rubbish interior & poor build quality.

Only positives is that the car looked newer and fresher than a 307, and it did OK on fuel.

When time come to change my faithful 307 1.4 hdi, I start to search for 308 SW pack with additional equipment. I wanted zone AC, Nav system.... First thing that I noticed was, seats were smaller than seats in 307 and less comfortably. Think that 308 drives better than 307 but for me, comfort is on 307 side. The dashboard is much prettier in 308.
Latter I discover a 407 and that is a completely different world. :)

I just got rid of my 308 SW sport 1.6hdi 2009 I had no problems with the engine at all I had it remapped from 110 to 140 it made a difference :).

I owned it for 5 years bought it at 82k sold it at 118k in them miles I changed tyres and front discs and pads an couple of bulbs, the usual stuff,

overall I enjoyed the car thought it was pretty comfy and the mpg wasn't too bad on the run it was extremely good cruise on 63mph very efficient.

Bonus with the SW all rear seats can be taken out not everybody's cup of tea but it's handy for days out sitting in boot having a brew or even sleeping in back if ya out for a wkend fishing that kind of thing.

I had all the rear windows tinted limo black, which I think make the car look even better.

I've bought another 308 SW on 63 plate, not sport model.

this one is so much quieter at the engine and cabin and road noise is a lot less also than the 2009 model i had.

Happy hunting hope this helps a little :thumb:

My input:

I had a 307 for a good few years the 2.0 110bhp enjoyed it and had issues
but still a good car when i was looking to change i was looking all sorts and kept coming back to the 308 for how nice it looks.

I flew over to Scotland and drove the car back and enjoyed the drive back with
the new (to me) 308. the first few weeks i done a few changes in fact the next day i changed the steering wheel to the flat bottom one and updated the lights to LED's.

I got the 308 2.0 136bhp HDi GT 5Dr. great spec, Auto Lights, Xenon Headlights, Rear Parking Sensors, Part Leather, 18'' OEM Alloys, Pan roof.

i have since updated few things in the car.

i would only change the Engine the 2.0 6speed is nice to drive but you can get the same power from a 1.6 110Bhp remapped, and save some money on the tax :D

Good luck in whatever you pick:thumb:
