You'll have to get an axle off a xs or a gti. They have discs on the rear.

Four studs and the brake lines. Also handbrake cables which you'll have to change.

Compared to drums discs are relatively prone to corrosion and seizure. Unless you're running big power the standard drums will be equally effective and more reliable. A lot more reliable.

I agree with chopper, unless you are going to use it as a track car and with only 70 bhp to play with thats unlikely, you won't notice any difference in stopping power. If they are anything like the rear calipers on my Mondeo steer well clear. Spend the money you would have spent on getting another rear axle [not cheap, especially if the calipers and discs aren't on it] on some nice alloys or something it hasn't got so you at least get some money back when you sell.
