Hi. I need to change and refill the cooling system on my 106 2003 Independence. As somebody experience of this as I have heard that some of the heating system hoses are higher than the expansion tank and that this can cause problems with air locks. Apparently one can improvise with a homemade header tank which raises the hight of the coolant in the expansion tank. Or better still buy the proper tool! Anyone know where to buy or the best way to improvise? Hoping that somebody can share their experiences of having done this. Many thanks.

I'm assuming your 106 has the 8V TU engine.
I`ve refilled the cooling system on loads of 106`s and never had any problems.
Three bleed valves, top n/side of radiator when filling, allen screw on stat`housing and "tyre valve" on heater hose near tank when running the engine.
Then run the engine for a while with the rad cap off, then run up till stat` opens and rad is hot.

Hi. Thanks for the speedy reply. I firstly will find out exactly what engine is fitted. The radiator as the expansion tank as a tube running down the side of the radiator. Does this make a difference when it comes to refilling.
Once again thank you for your reply.
