Hi,

I've only just started using the My Peugeot Android App and noticed that the vehicles position is shown on Google maps.

Anyone know if this constitutes a 'tracker' for insurance purposes?

Probably not I'm guessing, but wanted to ask here before calling the insurance co.

Thanks

Well if you leave your phone in the car when it's stolen then yes ? .... seriously though the location works off your phones location not the car .....
I thought it got the cars position from its on board GPS and sim. I know when my dealer wanted to confirm my cars sim was working he pushed the SOS button the person that answered knew the cars exact location even down to building number.

I can open the MyPeugeot app on my phone when NOT in the car and it will show me the vehicles location AND then have google maps show me walking directions directly to it, so Fontie's right.

Just not a 'regular' tracker that would suit insurance companies I fear.

OK this is my understanding.... if you drive the car with the app connected it uses you phones location services ... so when you leave the car with your phone the car remains where it is ... so your phone app will remember that? Unless the car is stolen then you'll walk back to find your car is NOT THERE lol

That's so cool. I lost my car once after going to a festival because I couldn't remember which of the huge car parks I'd put it in... took me an hour to find it!
