Hi all, newbie here so please be gentle. I own a 2002 2.0 hdi (90) that I bought in January to replace my old one that failed its mot and was too uneconomical to repair. Anyhow this car has a few problems that may be related and I'm hoping you can help. 3 times since I got the car I've got in it only to find that the clutch was on the floor, this has only happened after I haven't used the car for a couple of days. I've lifted the pedal up and had no further problems? Since I bought the car I've felt as if it was dragging/ slow to pick up especially at low speeds. Last week it was doing the same but I just rested my foot on the clutch pedal and it seemed to pick up a lot quicker, since then I've convinced myself that this is true, I don't push the clutch as it will start to slip, but just allowing the weight of my foot to rest on the pedal seems to allow the car the pick up easier, but if I do it for too long the car starts to hunt as if it's got a fuel starvation problem?? This evening I changed all four wheels and had the engine running, when I had the front wheels of the ground I span the front wheels and the revs picked up, I checked this several times and every time I spun the wheels the revs would pick up slightly for a second or two then drop back to normal??? Are these issues all related? I'm hoping that someone will be along to say it's common and an easy fix. Thanks very much in advance.

Hi there, welcome.
I had the same issue with my old Hdi90, where if I rested my foot on the pedal the car became more 'lively'. I thought I was imagining it at first, but there is a brown connector tucked in the back of the clutch pedal which works in the same way a brake pedal switch does.
I believe it has 2 functions, 1 is for cruise control ( dip the clutch the cruise turns off ) and number 2 is to reduce engine power when dipping the clutch to aid a smooth gear change.

Unplug this connector...:thumb:

I guess you don't have cruise control, and the I found the only slight draw back of unplugging this is the engine will be a bit easier to stall in the mornings, and maybe a harsher gear change but thats easy to get used to.

The bit about spinning the wheels off the ground, I'm not sure what that could be, possibly related possibly not..:confused:

Thanks for that Kelv. I spoke to a friend this morning and he said the same so I'll try that. Still like to find out about the others though.
