It is acceptable for a steering lock to be removed if it has been replaced with another immobilisation device.
That could mean anything from a crooklock to a chain and padlock bolted to the floor or even a kill switch to immobilise the vehicle :)

Another farcical change to the rules its all in the interpretation :)

Stupidest thing I've ever heard!!

MOT is supposed to be all about safety of vehicles and road users, not about preventing crime (not that a standard steering lock does much good at that anyway!!)

Thanks for the comments, got the car theough, appartently the steering lock not workin is only a minor and ur allowed three minors

WD40 or something similar. I used GT85 sprayed into the ignition barrel.

Mine didn't fix straight away but applied GT85 once a day and after about a week it freed up.

Only thing is your key gets covered in the stuff for a few weeks after.
