Got a problem with my 307 2.0 hdi lx.

Car drives fine, but under hard braking or braking at low speed, there is a judder through the brake pedal. When it starts it like a tick, tick, tick sound and the same is felt with the brake pedal.

Local garage said something about it being abs. Some ring on the end of hub that through time comes off???? But when they checked, ring not coming off. A friend of the mechanic works at Peugeot, they took a look and said the hub ends are rusted and cleaning would solve. This been done now and still no better.

The car past it's mot like this, it's just getting on my wick now!!!!

Any ideas???

This is a common fault on the 307. Rust builds up behind the mount for the ABS sensor, pushing it away from the back of the hub. The gap should be about 1mm.

Take off the wheel.

Remove the sensor with a long hex key.

Don't be afraid to give it a thorough cleaning. I started off with emery paper, but that didn't work so I progressed to a wire brush then a metal file in the end.

Clean the area, refit the sensor and check the gap.
