Brake electrics

Hi guys, a newbie to this forum.
I have a 1999 306 estate and am having problems with my brake lights - bulbs fine, fuses okay. Is there a sender unit attached to the brake pedal, if so, how would I manage to get to check this myself? I have had a look and there doesn't appear to be a way of getting to the top of the brake pedal at all, without taking the steering column away!
Any ideas would be great.
Many thanks, Mikkimacmak

Hi

Have you got a multimeter?

It would be worth checking fuses first, then the lamps - easiest to check by swapping. The fuses can often look ok, when they are not.

If it is the brake pedal switch, then usually - and I have not done it on your car, lie in the footwell on your back and look up... not nice. You will of course have to remove some of the trim panels to give access.

Can you see the switch?
