Dear all,

I took my Peugeot 308 (2010) for MOT at Halfords Autocentre last week, it did pass the MOT but recommended future work:

Renew both rear brake discs ( slight corrosion) condition Amber

Renew the rear brake pads ( recommend the brake pads are replaced with new brake discs) condition Amber

What does condition Amber mean, do I have to renew/replace them immediately and which brake discs and pads are the best?

At ECP they have eicher, Pagid, brembo and Bosch.

Thanks in advance.

Agreed! Run them until the pads are gone then change the lot.

Amber probably means something you might want to think about.

In my experience, and that of the guy who always used to do my MOTs, some corrosion on the rear discs is normal, they get so little use. Almost all the braking effort is on the front discs.

I would ignore them totally if they passed the mot they are not that bad !

Do them for the next mot
Thanks very much reliable406.

I saw a video on youtube a guy painting them, and they looked quite good, I'm not sure if I should do the same thing?

Thanks Brilec, yes it does look like a common thing for them to get rusty but if it doesn't effect the breaking I don't know why are they recommending to replace?!

Best wishes

Because you got a cheap MOT done by them and they were hoping to get more money out of you for jobs that don't need doing? :)

Were they advisories on the actual MOT sheet?

It sounds like they have their own scheme, where:

Green = brand new
Amber = about 12 months life left in them
Red = About six months life left in them

As for Euro Car Parts, I've always used Pagid from them.

Hi Gibbo,

Yes advisories are on MOT sheet.

Many thanks
