BPGA Battery Charge Fault

After spending some time searching I found the bpga is the most likely cause of my wife’s car not starting thanks to these forums. Battery and alternator have been ruled out.
I would love to swap it out but can only find used units and Ali express selling them.
I have 2 questions

1. Being that it is described as a fuse box, surely all electronic components could in theory be replaced. I could test with a meter and replace the faulty component?
(I’m handy with electronics and basic repairs)

2. one parts company told me that I’d have to go to Peugeot and it would be expensive. Would you risk an Aliexpress or used eBay part for £150

The key component in the BPGA is a mechanical relay which is the most likely component to fail. You may have seen it described as a solid state relay that is not correct. One forum member did dismantle a BPGA and it wasn't an easy device to work on see #24 of Battery charge fault - car will not start

All cases I know of people have bought used units. I don't know anyone who has bought an Aliexpress unt.

Thank you for the response I must have missed about the relay.
Sounds like the best bet is replacement and a decision whether to take a chance on a used part,
Thanks again for the advice

I bought an Aliexpress replacement BPGA before Christmas. Total cost including shipping and tax £160. It carried all the same part no. stickers etc as the one already in my car (2017 1.2l 3008 Allure) I had it fitted by my local garage when they did my service and MOT at the beginning of this week. Very early to be punching the air in delight but so far I've none of the non-starting/warning light shenanigans that I've been suffering almost daily for a year now.

I got mine from Aliexpress - multiple sellers came up, I think mine was Baificar or similar. I've read someone who sourced from ebay but dunno how that went. It might be worth seeing price on Aliexpress etc and then haggling with dealer as this is a widespread problem. Yours is the first one though with a different part number!! Have you had any diagnostics done?

Is this the right one put in the part number

This is the picture he sent me this look ok to you
It's really confusing on aliexpress isn't it. Searching on your part number (9675349880) also brings up pictures of the part I needed (9675350380) which is what he's sent you. Mine was/is also sticked JL06 whereas yours is JL01. I don't know if the part is the same but you seem to need the one ending 880. Have you googled it for results from UK sites to see if the part looks the same?

There should be a battery status monitor on the battery negative terminal. This should have a power connection to the BPGA. One of your fault codes suggests this connection is not made properly. The BSI fault also suggests something is disconnected.

I see that your replacement BPGA has a different fuse set this suggests it came from a different model. I take it they are the same part numbers and you have fitted the correct fuses for your car.

Here is part of a wiring diagram from another Peugeot. You can see there is 6 pin plug on the BPGA (1014). The connection to the battery status monitor (1031) is made at that plug. I can see in your photo that your BPGA has a multiway brown plug is that connected properly? Some BPGA have some extra fuses on a small plug it would be worth looking for that.

Hi All I have electrical system fault flash up but only on the second start of the day, first start no issues. Stop the car start again and it flashes up? I had a new battery to try and sort it but the same message appears. When I drive it a few miles then stop the cat and start again it goes off!! Its driving me crazy as its either faulty or its not, but as it does it second start onwards I,m stumped any ideas? SS works fine with new battery no other issues I can see

So, like this example? Is this enough? I thought that where there are no fuses there was no internal connection!
It seems to me that the reference 9675350380 that is for sale on aliexpress corresponds to the image above and the one I have in the car is 9675349880 (like the image below). So I can buy and adapt, right?
Thank you very much

In the case of the BSM (main engine fusebox) if the fuse is not fitted it is highly likely that there is no connection to it. However, that is not normally the case with BPGAs. The studs I have ringed connect to a plate on the other side of the BPGA. I have also included a photo of a BPGA from a 308 T9 that shows the other side of a BPGA and the plates the studs connect to. One part of the BPGA connects directly to the battery and the other part is controlled by a relay which is built into the BPGA.

I don't know the BPGA part numbers well enough to confirm this but the two different BPGAs you mention are probably the same basic BPGA with different fuse sets in which case it is simply a matter of fitting the correct fuses. However, there is a connector that controls the relay and that needs to be the same.

What I found with BPGAs is there are various options which is mainly which fuses are fitted. It sounds like you have a 308 T9 which has a different BPGA to older 308 T7 but they look quite different.

The main thing is - do they look the same? If some fuses are missing or the wrong value you can swap them from the old unit.

Hi,

I'm looking to put a jumper on to bridge the relay to make my car drivable until a new bpga arrives.

Could anyone please advise exactly where to fit it?

Thanks in advance
There are several types of BPGAs so the best location for the jumper differs. There should be two bus bars (aluminium conductors) in the BPGA one will be connected directly the to the battery and the other is connected via a relay. You need put the jumper between these two bus bars. This video may give you an idea.
