Guy's, has anyone had an issue where the black paint on the roof has been crazing or peeling? 3 days ago I bought a 2020 2008 GT Liine from Robins and Day Maidstone which is immaculate. However when I stood on a step to check how roof bars are fitted, I found 3 places where the paint is peeling. I does look like bird droppings may have been the culprit. Am I likely to get this sorted under the approved used warranty or get fobbed off?
I remember there was a TSB for this issue after the 3008 suffered the same.

I don't think that it's included in the warranty ! try your luck anyways

I had issues where the paint almost faded and left white spots all over, although it appeared to happen under the lacquer. Took it to my Peugeot garage and they resprayed the roof under warranty. I also had the issues with the blue on the emblem stripping off and they did that too.

I think it is included in the warranty for the first 3 year warranty period, but might not be in any extended warranty.
Go see your dealer.

I have been in touch with Robins and Day. They have advised me to take the car to the local Peugeot approved repair centre for assessment. So hopefully this will get it sorted out?

If its within 3 years then there is no reason why it shouldn't be. Be interesting to know if it had the autogylm lifeshine warrantee which is to help protect the paint for the life of the car as well. Should be covered under that too.

I have been told it's covered by the original 3 years warranty. I didn't have Autoglym Lifeshine applied, but may consider it now though?

Life shine is worth it, more so, if you think this issues has happened due to bird poo as it does help protect against this and give the warrantee

I have some in my garage, so will be applying it when the paint has hardened after it's done.

No sorry the life shine guarantee I paid £250 for the car to have the solution applied. I do not believe you get just by applying it yourself. See link below of registered companies that can apply it.

I was given a large bag of Autoglym Lifeshine products for my last car. It included a bottle of Lifeshine solution for area topping up. There is plenty enough for the roof.

Applying it yourself wont give you a the life shine guarantee as it would have to be done by a specialist. By all means applying it yourself will still likely give it some protection.

I am well aware of that, but I didn't have it applied to my 2008. Read my reply again and digest what I said, the operative words are " my previous car".

No need to get sarcastic, I know exactly what you are saying. Your exact words above were "I didn't have Autoglym Lifeshine applied, but may consider it now though?" All I was trying to say is you wont get a guarantee applying it yourself. If you not bothered by the official guarantee then apply it yourself! Not sure why we are repeating ourselves again.

5han3,
I'm sorry if I came across as sarcastic. I think my 72 year old mind isn't as tolerant anymore?

No problem. One thing I don't like about forums/texting is there no emotion involved unlike with face to face. I am sure the same conversation would have been different when we both would have seen each other and generally trying to helping each other.

5han3,
You are right about that. It's even worse when us older generation are trying to embrace modern technology and social media platforms. 👍

* Update *

Peugeot UK have agreed to have the roof repainted under warranty. It's only taken 4 months for them to decide. Of course COVID19 was to blame for the delay. Apparently they are saying the paint is defective.

Hi Bibsboy66,
I have since been told that Peugeot had rejected my claim. My dealer Robins and Day Maidstone, have agreed to pay for the respray themselves. My 2008 was an approved used car, which obviously had the paint defect prior to our purchase. I reported the issue to them 2 days after we collected the car. We are finally getting the roof repainted on the 3rd October, almost 6 months of waiting. Fortunately our salesman has been on our side from day one.
I hope that you will get your daughter's 208 sorted asap?
Regards David
