Hi everyone - new to the forum, as I have just bought the 307sw 2003
Was hoping for some advice on the best diagnostic tool to work through issues that might arise (for example the ABS fault that's popped up, which I'm presuming is a sensor)

I've read in these forums about the PP2000, and checked them out on ebay, but I am reluctant to purchase as I have also read that one or two are temperamental with the 307's, and some don't work on the pre 2004 diesels.
I've seen tools for around £50 and some for £100 - are there major differences?

I'm also reading that some of the software will only run in Windows XP, or at best on a 32bit Windows 7 or 8. I'm running 64bit Windows 8, and was wondering if anyone has had success running the software inside a XP virtual machine running on a newer system?

Any advice, or links to the right pages of the forum would be greatly appreciated - I've run a few searches in here already, but must admit that I'm not entirely sure what to search for.

Any clarity on which way to go is greatly appreciated.

Planet (best one) and a few other specialist bits of kit (Snap on or ACR2) will read it.

None of the cheap and cheerful standard OBDII readers will be able to connect as it prior to around 2005 when diesels had to comply with OBDII standard

I have a very old clone interface and had no problems with connecting to my 307 (even before updating to /c firmware)

Runs fine on win 10 32-bit and im sure a few people on here have it working on 64-bit VM's

Thanks very much everyone!

Apologies Gibbo - I should have made a better effort to check for FAQ's before posting. I found all of the FAQ most useful.

Following on from the FAQ's, and all your comments...

Does this cable fit the bill, or is it a "knock-off" and waste of money:
Ebay item - 231965116958

I can't tell if it's a Rev.C or Rev.B cable - is it likely to be Rev.C, or is really 50/50?

I can see that it comes with the Planet software, but version 21 rather than 22 - is the software copyrighted, or is it freely shared? Any major need to update from 21 to 22?

And, thanks for the reassurance on the VM setup Paul.

Thanks again guys - I'll be sure to give back to the community however I can, and having just paid £900 for a 307sw, I'm sure I'll be active! :)

Its likely a clone device, but then saying that people do just as well with them as the originals.

Don't hold me to this, but the fact that it is being sold with Diagbox 7.65 (Fairly new software) would make me think that it is a revision C. (This can be upgraded easy enough as I am led to believe)

Revision B only worked with v5.01 to 5.29 if I remember correctly. Also I run Peugeot Planet v25.01 which I believe is v24.99 with a few minor fixes.

PM me when you get the cable :thumb:

Thanks Paul!

That's great help - really appreciate it!

It will be a couple of weeks until I grab the cable, as we are moving about a bit in the next week, but once I do I'll flick you a PM.

Thanks All!

ALL are clones the only thing that varies is the quality of the interface internally
Software is all bootleg too as for updates im very much in the if it works why mess with it camp others feel the need to update as far as it will go.

Updates only give you cars you wont need for 10 years or so :)

Any current offering should work fine.
