I have a Peugeot 106 P Reg (1996) and it was standing idle throughout the winter. Now I have gone back to drive it and it wouldn't start because the battery was flat. I managed to get it going with jump leads and took it for a long run to charge the battery.

However when I came back and went to restart it, it still wouldn't start. Battery completely dead and I mean not even ticking over, just dead. Again I took it for a run but still no joy. It starts with jump leads but no chance other than that.

Is it a case of simply the battery being totally knackered or could there be another problem?

Thanks in advance.

With an older battery once it dies it will never hold the charge properly again. In this instance it is refusing to hold the slightest charge. Always replace a battery if it's died [through whatever reasons] if it's over 6 years old.
