Just done the O/s lower ball joint as it had serious play on all planes of movement!
What came off was the typical rusty bearings loose in the frip/ball joint thingy mabob. The symptoms of failure on mine didn't give me any knocks or clunks though ??? just a horrid vibration through the steering at low speeds and a vibration like a wheel was out of balance at 70+ ... If you have those symptoms please do check the lower joints!

However after changing the lower joint, there still seems to be a very slight amount of play on the front to back of the wheel?? I was thinking that this could maybe be the track rod end as some grease has seeped out of the joint when replacing the lower ball joint!
I'm tired though and we have only just finished the job after a 12 hour day
