Just had oil changed in my 508 GT automatic gearbox
They used this oil

First they drained oil (2.5 liters) and put same amount in.
Then we "drove" 10-15 kilometers on car lift (engine consumption was 2.5 L/100km at 130 km/h in 6th <img src="http://www.peugeotforums.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Big Grin" class="inlineimg" />)
Then they repeated procedure one more time and drained excess oil (4.5 dl) from gearbox using small screw in drain plug (similar as this video)

Also had my timing belt, water pump, auxiliary belt and tensioners changed.

All together (parts and 5 hours labor) was 550 EUR.
The video on this post is gr8, shame its not in English. I dont know the history on my 508 and would like to change it.

Few questions I have:
1- what spec oil should I buy
2- how much oil do I need
3- is it as simple as draining the oil and the refilling it from the top and then take the small screw out to level it?
4- does it need to be a certain temperature
5- what did the guy do on Diagbox?
6- the instruction that read the quantity of the oil etc, is it on servicebox? (Does anyone have a copy)

Please advise

Thanks Denis, the pictures were helpful. I need to do some research on point 1 and 5.

Am I right in saying that if the oil level is correct, nothing should drain when the small screw is taken off?

Thanks mate.. just shopping around for the ATF and then have a go at it next weekend.

Going to change the gear box oil tomorrow.

Just wanted to check how do you go about doing it on the driveway?

the instructions say it needs to be level and without a 2/4 post lift this is not possible?

how do you go about getting it level? do you put axle stands on all corners?

please advise

Had a wee go at replacing gear box oil. Only 2.5 litre came out.. I put in 3 litres and then at the time of the level a small cough of the fluid came out so I was low on fluid.

Before putting on the under tray, I checked the drain plug and there was oil dripping.. I have used new seals on both the big (aluminium) and small drain (rubber) plug using the correct torques so wondering what else it could be.

Any thoughts?

Dennis, did your drain plug leak?

Yeah I have seen the video.. it doesnt refer to the leaking drain plug which was my issue.

Anyhow, I have resolved the issue.. used thread sealant and its not leaking anymore. I did 2 flushes and reset the oil wear indicator via daigbox.

The oil had not been changed from new so well worth the effort.

The transmission is smooth as new.. no jerking anymore..

Really pleased with the job.

Denis.. there are two ways. One is Read the oil wear counter and the other is through Repair. I prefer the second.

Under the global test, select the Auto Gearbox ECU.. then select Repair then select Replace Transmission oil and finally select Reset Wear Counter.. mine had the same numbers as my mileage (which also confirms the mileage on my car was not tampered with when I bought it earlier this year)

I have noticed a massive difference and shall be doing another flush in Summer.. the shifts are smoother and I dont get the jerk which was getting during stop start traffic.
