Hi, I am considering buying a new van conversion motorhome based on the Peugeot Boxer Window Van. Two problems have been reported regularily, mainly but not solely Fiat, water ingress into engine compartment and juddering gearbox in reverse. Has anyone recent experience of a new Boxer and does the water ingress still occur on recent models and any opinions on the judder. I have test driven a van and did`nt think judder was excessive (but I ain`t no techy)
Thanks

Boxer

HI THE JUDDERING IS'NT TO BAD, SOME PEOPLE FIND IT WORST AT DIFFERANT ANGLES!! I THINK ITS BECAUSE OF FRONT WHEEL DRIVE:nod:
THE WATER IN ENGINE ISSUE IS STILL BEING SORTED ON ALL MODELS, ANY PUG DEALER CAN DO THE NESSESARY MODIFACATION!! FOC.
OTHER THAN THAT THERE ARE SOME RECALLS ON HANDBRAKE AND LIGHT SWITCHES, THE DEALERS AGAIN CAN TELL YOU IF NESS! GREAT MOTORHOMES THO!!!

BEST WISHES ALEX

If you persist the water issues can be fixed but the reversing judder has no fix yet Fiat are still working on this Peugeot have no answer, unless anyone knows more and can give some details and persons to contact.
It has been poor of Peugeot to sell vans with all these faults.

I have a Marquis Majestic M/home on 2013 P/ Boxer. No problems with judder or water in engine but there is a big problem with the van battery going flat after about a week/10 days.Mine is a week.I`ve been spun a few yarns from marquis and others about the activity going on under the bonnet on the electricle side of things even when stood idle.Peugeot are checking it as I write and have told me the battery is only warranted for 6 months anyway even though there is nothing wrong with the battery itself. The fact is that too much electricle garbage is being installed into vehicles now and batteries are not man enough to take it all.I either have to put the battery on trickle charge on a regular basis,i.e.-every time we want to use it or take it for a 50 mile run to boost it up.The charging too often doesn`t help the battery anyway. As we have to pay lifechanging sums of money to buy these things I really think companies like Marquis who sell them to us and don't tell us anything until we have made the purchase and then come up with all the crap afterwards should be taken to task. The branch where I purchased mine in Devon hasn`t even got a proper workshop or mechanics so I have to run around everywhere to get the warranty work done.So much for customer service. If I were you I would avoid Peugeot Boxers and Marquis Motorhomes .I`m not sure about Fiat as they say they are made on very similar lines to Peugeot but these are the facts that I`ve experienced so far.

Personally I wouldn't even consider buying another Peugeot Boxer or any other Sevel van, they will have the same inherent faults with the gearbox for example.

It's funny how comes there is a company on ebay who can supply all the cogs/parts for the new 6 speed gearbox that's used in these vans, I wouldn't have expected that there would have been a demand for such parts on a relatively new vehicle.

I don't know if all French vehicle manufacturers have a policy of making their parts obsolete after a 10 year period, I heard that Citroen had stopped making gear change cables for a certain 2004 model, crazy hey.

I do like the actual living quarters that most motorhome conversion companies do on these vans but having experienced major gearbox failure twice in a short period of time, no thanks, I'll look for a VW or Merc next time.

I had a VW T4 before, no such problems in 10 years of ownership, it was no spring chicken when I bought it either.

peugeot boxer faults.

Mmm. No judder on gearbox when reversing, but rattles when on idle, drives quiet though ??? Told its to do with idlers in gearbox, ???
Now on fourth instrument cluster in 6500 miles, grrr.
Airbag warning message and light on intermittently, for past 100 miles, new airbag module now been fitted, well was supposed to go in with the new instrument cluster, but the garage is having a problem getting them working, the modules keep losing communications with each other, they are now contacting Peugeot hotline for assistance. All said I am now out of action for the next few days/ weeks, who knows ???
The battery also only keeps charge for about a week, been told loads of stories, as they do, but got fed up and fitted a solar panel to keep the battery charged up , that has been fine for just over a year now, so need to get a splitter to keep the leisure battery charged as well.
Back to tent camping for now
