I have a 2007 Peugeot 2.7 HDI Coupe on 78K miles. My wife was driving it on the motorway when she completely lost power and had to be rescued by the RAC. She thinks some of the warning lights (ABS, power steering, STOP & Ors) had been flashing shortly before the engine stopped. The RAC put some charge into the battery and I think started the car but said that nothing was going into the battery. RAC believes the alternator has gone. Peugeot are quoting me £700 plus a diagnostic charge to replace the alternator. A lot of money. Any thoughts? I live in South east London and would like to get the diagnostics done - ideally at the roadside where the car's parked - by somebody who knows what they're doing and charges a reasonable fee. Thanks for any suggestions
