307sw 2005 has had ongoing problems with aircon potentially leaking.

had it re-gassed when i bought the car, it lasted 3 days.

took it to an aircon place and he spotted a faulty leaking valve and replaced it and re-gassed the system, also adding UV dye to trace any potential leaks in the future.

its lasted almost 3 weeks and today its gone again, blowing out cool air - far from cold.

is there a common air con problem with 307's as there seem to be many issues on google.

thanks

OFN is basically pressure test with nitrogen or special helium mix for finding minute leaks in a/c systems.

not many a/c agents have this equipment even thought their supposed to. its not allowed to knowingly refill a leaking a/c system.
The environment people would have a field day..lol

yeah i think he has the equipment - he offered a high pressure test last time.

whats the procedure if his finds a leak ?

he did mention it could be a seal thats gone, or an aluminium pipe thingy.

i am thinking its going to be a big expensive repair - not had much luck with this car.

i think he,s probably trying to scare you off mate ie he got the gear but no idea ..
go and get some one else to look at it ive rarly seen a bill for a grand even when i was at a pug dealer. only time i saw a bill like that was new compressors. and interior evap units.

What you need is a a/c guy to do a proper leak test and report and quote on findings.
Shouldn't cost much more than a hours labour.
have a dig round look for a specialist or try a dealer ?
good luck

Just to let you know, I had a whole hosts of ac problems when I first got my focus. First off most places had no idea, so dealer it was. Also I had to get replaced the condensor/compressor (can't remember) and most of the pipes as they kept splitting. In total I must have paid around £500 to get it all fixed. But I only handed around £200-£300 as the rest was warrenty. Best bet is to get into the engine and check all the pipes physically yourself. Once you have illiminated those you can say seals.

I recently chased a slow and undetectable leak in ours. Turned out the condenser had gone porous in one small area directly behind the fan motor. Invisible until I pulled the radiator back to see between it and the condenser, then the dye lit up like a christmas tree.
Undo the clips and two bolts at the top of the bumper/grille, then loosen the two bolts holding the top rad brackets. You can then lean the rad back to look inside...
