Advice needed on a 307 HDI Station Wagon 2006

I have just seen a 1.6 HDI 307 Estate which i really like and consider buying, but i would like to ask about any problems ecnountered. Forthermore in the family we have another Peugeot the 306 SL and although quite old still in good shape. Recently the laquer on the bonnet has started to peel and this is quite a common problem here in malta. Has anyone enqountered this problem on the 307 models?

I could be wrong here, but dont they have 10 year warranty on finish? (is it part of the anti perforation warranty??)

Or that might only cover rust now i think about it!

But i've never seen one with laquer peeling, suppose we dont get the temps here that you do!

Problem wise, as long as you investigate the car thouroughly you should be ok, what engine are you thinking of?

If it a 1.6 hdi, listen for a rattle near gearbox when you turn car off. Thats the flywheel. Make sure correct oil has been put in it. Either 5w/40 or 5w/30, anything else ie 10w/40 then the turbo may give problems.

Had a 406 with a little bit of lacquer coming of the roof unteil i hit it with a jet of water from a power hose ,lifted the whole roof like a big blister, not easy to sell on.
