Hello all, I've just become the proud owner of a 1998 406 Estate, and I have a question that I hope someone may be able to answer:

The ABS light in the instrument panel remains on constantly with the ignition. I have also felt the ABS engaging when rolling at walking pace and lightly pressing the brake pedal.

Unfortunately I didn't research the problem before purchase, and the seller told me that the warning light has illuminated since the new brake pads were fitted, and that it's nothing to worry about (he suggested that the light indicated pad wear. Only when I got home and checked the users manual I discovered that it was the ABS warning light).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
