Good evening everyone and merry Christmas.

I am hoping someone can help me with an issue I am having we have a 2013 308 1.6 hdi 22,000 on clock a couple of weeks ago we were traveling on a duel carriage way when the cruise control disangaged and got an abs/esp fault on dash I took car to a Peugeot specialist who took brake switch out inspected it and put back in lights went out and no further issues at this point I ordered a new switch at Peugeot and installed it.

But a week later abs/esp fault came back on so called aa out he read fault codes and got a code for front n/s speed sensor so replaced sensor with new one from local motor factors not a Peugeot part installed it lights went out no issues a day later and guess what abs/esp light back on and no cruise control called aa out again and found fault code for front n/s speed sensor we checked sensor while driving gave same reading as others jacked car up spun wheel and it's working but still getting abs/esp fault just wondered if anyone has had this issue and found a fix

Any help appreciated

The scan tool you used to log the road speeds ....can you this same tool and show it as a voltage and in a graph form ....you will see speed drop outs and glitches better in this form .

The scan tool converts the digital signal to an analog road speed so the refresh rate and sampling rate are ‘ damped ‘ and does not no show the same detail as on a voltage graph .

Also ensure there are no metallic flakes on the magnetic reluctor ring on the wheel bearing and that the face where the abs sensor is bolted to is clean and free of rust build up forcing a bigger air gap between sensor and reluctor .

The tool used was by the aa just looked at speed that was all the patrol chap could read. He seemed to think that it was something easy to sort as the fault was not on constantly ie the gap might be to big enough to read speed but to big and sending a wrong signal confusing the system and bringing fault light on.

Also after fitting sensor and brake switch when I engage cruise control it sort of surges ie speeds up ever so slightly and back down again every few seconds like it's getting confusing signals.

When I fitted new sensor I cleaned the face where it sits or at least I thought I did it enough but will clean it again and check plug connection can I use brake cleaner on magnetic reluctor ring in order to clean it.

Thanks

Just a little more information on this so this is what aa found

Fault codes ABS-B07 / ESP 8.1 status 5321 wheel speed sensor front left error message incorrect/no signal

Also if I remove brake switch and reinstall it will clear fault for a while.

Thanks.

It most likely will clear until abs ecm sees the fault again .
Like I already said check for any flecks of rust in the magnetic strip , brake cleaner will not move them you need to use like a cotton bud and turn the wheel to clear any bits off

Also over the years I have seen loads of issues with after market sensors , we only use genuine ...it saves time chasing issues caused by poorly made sensors

Ok thank you for your help would the sensor if it's a bad one or faulty If after market cause the cruise control to speed up and slow down slightly by its self If the sensor is giving a bad or dodger signal.

Thanks again for your help.

Yes good chance that if a wheel speed sensor is inconsistent it will affect the cruise , cruise issue is a consequence and not a cause
