Just hade my CPU repaired and installed today after the car sitting life less for a month. Car wouldn't start and immobiliser error was showing so was sent for repair checks etc.
Car still won't work. Lights work, electric doors open and close. Car locks and unlocks on the key, engine turns over strong, horn works but the windows don't open. Have tried a few of the resetting advice on the web like holding down the lock button etc. Any advice please?

So reading between the lines your car would not start so you decided to send the engine ecu away for a pointless repair it did not need and when refitting surprise surprise it still wont work !!

WIRING or recode the key are by far the 2 most likely problems.

Beep test ?
other common issue on 807 is timing belt failure easy test for this is check cam and crank sync using computer.

Test not guess

Hi, Thanks for your feed back and advice. We did test the electrics and a fault was found with the CPU. Hence the repair.
Did try formatting the keys and other things as found on the net with similar problems including standing on one leg and whistling when trying to start it....

I would love it to be something simple.

Also: the battery was disconnected for over three weeks and then connected after I installed the CPU. I now remember that when I changed the battery a year ago I did have to do a another strange set up like having the drivers window open, turning the ignition on and something else to reset or communicate with electrics. Wonder if this needs to be done first then format the keys.

Was going to try the above but the window wouldn't open so maybe I will try doing the set up from inside the car.
What is your recommendation for formatting the key or keys and does it have to be done with both keys that came with the car?

I appreciate any advice. Thanks

I doubt very much that anything was wrong with the ecu they are pretty robust but they always get the blame first all these repair companies are making a fortune not repairing them :)

Do the beep test does it beep yes? no ? THEN get a computer on it reading live data to do with the immobiliser to see whats REALLY wrong

If the key codes are lost it will never start.

Do a search its all over the forum infact there is a lot of info regarding what to check for non start as all peugeots are basically the same so the checks are the same regardless.

Following a tried tested and logical check pattern is how to find the fault but as i have already said its most likely WIRING its always wiring !

Disconnecting and reconnecting batteries and letting batteries go flat is a surefire way of loosing keycodes but you may well have more than 1 issue now due to faffing with parts that should not have been messed with.

HI,

If it is a "key code " problem how could it be resolved? Can this be done without a Peugeot dealer visit?

I have done a check and listed what I can see is not working.
When the ignition is on:
No glow plug light
Wipers don't work
Windows don't open
No indicators
Radio doesn't work
"entering economy mode" comes up on the screen ( fully charged the battery yesterday.

What works are lights, and electric side doors and locking from the key.

I will get a another diagnostic on it tomorrow.

I believe your "faffing about" comment is valid with too many changes at he same time or wrong order.

Thanks

Your not reading the forum economy mode is the reason all your windows etc dont work !

Economy mode will only switch of once engine turns over towing it in gear is enough to do that but thats irrelevant

Glow plug light also wont come on they are not needed for starting and only come on for a fraction of a second anyway.

What are the results for the beep test have you done it yet ?

This is how to fix it

FIRST beep test

Second IF beep test is a no which it will be you need a computer to check immobiliser state and if required recode keys

I seem to be repeating myself this is the ONLY way to get anywhere.

Ok if you done the test right and its beeping that means the key is being recognised by the car so the BSI is fine and powering up if you have an immobiliser fault showing then the next most likely thing is not the ecu but POWER to the ecu or wiring from the BSI to the ECU.

Diagnostics reading live data will help here to pin down the reason if you CANNOT get comms with the engine ecu this will be down to a power issue.

HI, Had another diagnostic today. All was good except there was no response from the CPU. Power in but nothing coming back. Beep test was ok.

Ok so like i said your ecu is NOT powering up you cannot get comms if its not powered up this will also be the reason the car is not starting so like i said WIRING check power and earth connections for the ECU also check the double relay.fuses next to battery and possibly ignition switch this IS a wiring issue NOT an ecu issue.
