No timing gun needed as diesel, the crank and cams etc need to be locked in place and the belt refitted. I do not know anyone in the area if you have stripped car to find problem then you should be able to retime the engine with no problems (Haynes Manual shows timing marks etc) or you can search web and often instructions for tools from Sykes etc are downloadable as pdf which detail how to lock engine.

You can often use 8mm bolts or a piece of bar to lock cam/pump and I know of a few people on here who have used an old junior hacksaw handle to make a tool to lock crankshaft where the locking hole is behind starter motor

806 timing update

Firsty thanks for all the views and the helpful replies from windy.
Had a mobile mechanic come and look at the car and the timing belt has slid to one side off the pulleys and virtually worn itself away, the reason is because the water pump has gone and the cog is at an angle pulling at the drivebelt.
Im having the pump and a cam belt kit replaced next for a quoted price of 380.
Happy iv found the problem but obviously not happy abouf the agro iv had with the car.
-might get some good luck with it after this..........
Thanks again all.
