Hi all

I have an awful whine from the engine bay while accelerating. This can be either while moving in gear and also while stationary in netrual. The van has had a new clutch, alternater and the issue is still there. The belts have been checked and seem fine also. The van starts, runs and accelerates without issue.

Anything else I can check?

Thanks
Rob.

Hi welcome....whip of the axilliary belt and start it up...if the noise goes look at the belt idler...if its still there you need to have a look at the cam-belt and pullys...

Would it be the automatic belt tensioner that needs replacing once the belt is removed and noise goes?

Top tip: I've replaced idler pulley wheels on the auxiliary belt spring tensioner on 4 Peugeots I've owned due to noisy bearings.

The pulley wheel is only bolted on to the tensioner - sometimes its a left hand threaded bolt.

Normally Service Box doesn't show this pulley available separate from the tensioner but its usually the same pulley as the idler guide pulley wheel.
