I have 57 plate (09/2007) Pug 307 S (1.6 HDI) with worn tie rod ends.

Is this an easy enough job to do at home?
I'm pretty certain I can change the outer ends easily enough because they're easy to get to, but what about the inner tie rod ends? Can you get at them easily? Do you need special tools? Does anybody have any tips/instructions???

Thanks,

Bob

I had to replace the inners in ours recently, outers were fine.
Rack boot clips are a pain- a bradawl or fine screwdriver unclips them, but small pincers and patience are needed to re-attach.
The joint just unscrews off the rack end. I used a big red Lidl pipewrench.
and don't forget the breather pipe between the boots on rebuild...

I haven't actually done it yet.

The car has about 51k on the clock, though it drives like it's got a few more than that (clutch needs doing too!). Assuming the service history (and other paperwork) I got when I bought it from the Ford Dealer was accurate, the mileage is genuine. It's coming up to another service soon, so it's starting to cost a fair bit!
