Just buying a 54 plate Expert 2ltr 110bhp van.

On the test drive it is perfect apart from the accelerator pedal. It is really hard to press down.
The garage -not Pug - are scratching their heads as to what it could be and say it could be an engine out job ???
Oh really..
Any ideas please.

I doubt that. The accelerator cable only runs about 6", from the pedal to the accelerator module mounted on the bulkhead - easily accessible with the bonnet open !
Sounds more likely that something is restricting the pedal itself, in the footwell

Thankyou fynnbar.
I had a look around the footwell and around the pedal area. all is clear.
Yet when trying to pull the visible cable, that became really hard.
Will await the garages decision sometime tomorrow (20th) and let you know

I had this same problem, new accelerator cable cured the problem. What happened was the inner cable was disintegrating and left a fine sand on the footwell. When cable disconnected it freed itself off but only for a few weeks then it went tight again. New cable solved problem.
