My car got broken into this week, drivers window smashed. Autoglass have been out to replace it, and couldn't work out how to do it - apparently the window does go up and down, but not always - and because of the frameless design, he wasn't prepared to fit it in case it didn't automatically retract when it should. The fitter thinks the mechanism is fine, but it needs to go to Peugeot to be reset via the diagnostics... Anyone had a similar experience, any advice?
It was an insurance claim with a £75 excess, but now that it's more involved, the insurers want to treat it as a full claim with a £400 excess, so I probably don't want to go down that route. I'm waiting on a cost from Peugeot to fit the window and reset it - they've quoted £144 + VAT for the window itself, which seems reasonable.

Thanks!

I would ask from Dealer to check car for errors. Also, I can't understand whether your window is in the emergency mode or not. In case it is, according to ServiceBox, it should then move window up/down in a stepper mode. If it does, then you have to reinitialise it by doing a following thing: - move it all way to the bottom - hold "up" at least for 1 second This is what ServiceBox recommends, yet, I don't see your window being in an emergency mode, though. Not clear what do you mean by "but no always".

Thanks - I was just going on what the fitter said. I've had a look myself now. The fitter put a temporary perspex window in. You can hear the mech go up and down as you would expect, and when it gets to the top, you can feel it hit the perspex window (which is just in the window frame, not connected to the mechanism). If you lift the switch till it gets to the top, it stays there for about half a minute, then goes back to the bottom again on its own.

I've also had a quote from Peugeot to replace it (the cost they gave earlier was just for the window) and its £450, so just slightly more than the excess.

I can't help but feel that this might be more of a knowledge issue for Autoglass than a requirement to go to the main dealer...
