My car is a 508 GT SW 2011.

My car is going into the dealership tomorrow so will post an update on what they say. The echo is really bad so I hope they sort something out.

Sorry to hear you have not got anywhere yet, but keep trying.

Hi was at dealer today they tried to download the calibration file but it keeps coming up with a error. and they could do the update and now i still have echo? anyone with any help. does anyone own a diagbox like they have at dealers and is willing to help fix the problem ? and try to download it again?

im in london

regards

Some simple questions

My 2012 508 is still on RNEG2.20.E.5
What's the highest I can go WITHOUT encountering any problems or messing about with calibration files?
Are there any benefits... apart from the somewhat dubious ability to enter 7 character post codes (which I never use anyway)?
I would like to update my old map set to the latest 2014-1 edition. Can this be accomplished without having to install a later firmware version?
Thanks.

Good morning John, it says on the HERE web site that version 2.10 or above is required for the 2014-1 maps to work correctly. As you already have 2.20 then I think that if you upgrade the maps they should work correctly. Please be aware that as you (and I) have the "older" 508 then you will not be able to install ALL the maps as you will run out of room in the internal memory card.
Maps are available in several places, if you have any difficulty locating them, please contact me.
Best regards, Martin.

Thanks for the prompt response, Martin. What exactly do you mean by 'ALL' the maps? My system currently has maps for the whole of Europe and Scandinavia but 2011/2012-1 edition. I don't need any more than that. Looking on the Peugeot Here website, the 2014-1 maps seem to be split up into 11 different regions at ÂŁ69 a pop or the whole lot in one go for ÂŁ129. They are all listed under maps available for a 2012 508. I probably won't be driving in Scandinavia or Eastern Europe but I certainly will be wanting maps for Western Europe. It's not economically viable to buy a number of the smaller regions when I can buy the whole of Europe in one go. Are you saying that the whole of Europe map won't load onto my system now?

Hi John, thanks for your reply. In 2012 all the Western and Eastern Europe maps fitted onto the 4Gb card that is in the RT6 unit that you and I have. As the maps were updated and became larger it was found to be necessary to increase the card size to 8Gb to accommodate the larger maps for Western Europe. The change from 4Gb to 8Gb happened around June 2012. When you update your maps, at some point it will say "no more room" or words to that effect, and ask you which country you wish to delete. I have deleted some of the Eastern Europe countries as it is unlikely I will ever get that far. The countries involved are the ones included in the set for ÂŁ129 pounds, but no need to pay that amount. The 2014-1 maps are available from GPSUNDERGROUND if you look carefully. Any problems please drop me a message.
Martin.

OK... I understand :)
I've found the maps on GPSUNDERGROUND and I've started to download them (all 34 parts).
I may need some help later. Thanks for your help so far.
John

OK... just hit what seems like a brick wall. Some of the files no longer seem to be there. Reading the GPSUNDERGROUND forum posts, it does seem like a lot of hassle to get the files and even more to get them installed and working. Think I might just buy the upgrade from the Peugeot Here site.

I appreciate that you're trying to help but I wouldn't know a 'torrent' file from a rubber duck. All I'm looking for is something I can download onto a memory stick, plug it into the car and job done. That's just about the limit of my computer knowledge/ability. If I buy the genuine maps from Peugeot, that's what I expect to happen. They will supply me with the correct activation code for my car and all will be well with my world. If I try to do something beyond my limited ability, I'll probably screw everything up and end up with no maps at all.

What do you mean with "... the whole of Europe and Scandinavia ..."?
Scandinavia is more a part of Europe than GB and Ireland as it's connected hard by land.

yh i see what you are saying well give me your email and i will send you the maps i downloadED from GPSUnderground and installed with no problem whats so ever. also have you got speed camera alerts aswell? their quite useful to have on the sat nav ill give them to you aswell and you will be all up and running.:)

Got the car back today from the dealership, and the echo problem is sorted. apparently they put it it on the diagbox and the volume levels were to high, so they adjusted them and all is fine now, no more echo, nothing to do with a calibration file as some have reported, but you never know with dealers.

very intresting information. are you sure thats what they did? if so that might be the problem for me then did you know extactly what they done so i can go back to dealers or any1 who diagbox local to me and get it sorted i think this can also be done on mirascripts. you have gave me some hope here plummy lol what dealers did you go to? was it robins and day ?

regards

Well thats what they told me, but you never know do you, but I cannot see why they would have told me porky pies. The dealership is a one off company local to me in Hampshire, but any Peugeot dealer should be able to link into the diagbox and see what the volume levels are and make adjustments.
They said they have paired their own phone to my car and made volume adjustments on the diagbox till the echo disappeared.

yh well if thats the case i have to that aswell then to fix my problem just to confirm was the person on the other line having echo not in your car right? if so that is my problem aswell and people say solved by calibration now you tell me this im lost now but if it fixed your problem then brilliant i hope its a solution but has your parking sensors and other radar sounds lowered in sound ? or all sounds the same.

My problem was the same as yours, echo, only on callers end.

First thing I checked were the parking sensors when reversing, and not sure if sound lowered, but they are definitely audible, will check other sounds later just to make sure, but all seems ok,

I also thought it was to do with a calibration file, as others have reported this, and maybe it is in some cases. My software upgrade was done by the dealer and it was from 2.20 straight 2.80 if that helps.

I have question about updating RT6 version 2.20 to 2.85. Does it compairs correctly and would it work? I little bit scared of it. Have anyone done this big "hop" in software update. I want to update it because yesterday and today RT6 rebooted randomly once for a sec, i think its caused buy BT using with Sony Xperia Z (my gf has 308, also uses Xperia with BT and rebootes randomly sometimes). Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks !
