It has a belt AND a chain and both can fail !

belt is 120k or something around that but i have seen them fail before that so we done them at 90-100k

I didn't know there was also a chain in the 2litre. I have had the belt done...where is the chain please? And what does it do that the belt does not? Many thanks, Dave

The toothed belt is on the outside of the engine and transfers drive from the crankshaft to ONE of the camshafts. The chain is inside the cam box and couples the two camshafts together.

Ah. Ideally at what mileage should this chain be replaced and is it a big job to do?
