Hello to start with as I’m a new member .
I own a 508 sw 2.0 163bhp allure 2012,I’m experiencing problems with my stereo unit I have no radio no sat nav, reverse sensors,no phone connection, nothing at all it was intermittent until about a week ago now just a blank screen,if I drive the car at night I can see some sort of light behind the screen like it is trying to start ,I can also hear it trying as well with a light whiring sound every now and then.
I inserted a cd into it today and it took it in as it should but no life at all.
I have taken it to my local Peugeot dealer he put it on the diagnostics and it told him it was the cd head unit which is also the ECU incorporated apparently this has cost me £145 up to now just for him to tell me what the problem is.
Could anyone tell me because it’s a cd unit could I take it to a car audio repairers for repair or does it need to be a specialist ECU repairer??

I haven't experienced your issues you describe myself but I know someone that has.
He spent loads a money trying to find out what was wrong with his RT6 and in the end opted to buy a second hand unit. Worked out much cheaper in the long run and less hassle!
There's one here https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-...732302?hash=item5b43ee91ce:g:NdcAAOSwY7VahXHA that MAY be suitable.
There are guides on here that describe the process for taking the old unit out and putting the replacement in.

Hi all!

I've had a similar problem. Bought a used 508 RXH a couple of months ago, and the multifunction screen would come on when I started the car about two times out of three; the rest of the time it would come on after about 10 minutes. But over the course of a few weeks it came on less and less until it stopped working completely about a month ago.

Tried to do various firmware updates to see if that would help, but the unit wouldn't accept them.

Those Lithuanian units look good – all the second hand units I saw on eBay at the time were about £300. I've now taken my RT6 unit out and sent it to Autotronics in Spain to try and repair it. Was quoted 200 euros if it can be repaired, 20 euros for return postage if it can't. Fingers crossed!

Well, so far so good.

Posted the unit off on Saturday a week ago. It arrived on Thursday and two days later I had an email saying it was all repaired and fully updated. Just waiting to get it back now. Will keep you updated.

I’ve now sent 2 emails off to autotronics.eu and haven’t had a reply do they usually take a good few days to get back to you or have I got the wrong email address?
Also how much did you pay for the repair ? If you don’t mind me asking ??

The repair was 200 euros. I think that's a flat rate as I saw them mentioned on another forum to do with vehicle satnavs and the post there, which was a couple of years old, said their repair was 200 euros.

I got in touch through the website, and it was a few days before I had a reply. After that the response was generally within 24h, but having said that I've had an email from Karim this morning, but the previous one was Sunday so maybe he's been away or busy.

Oh, and it cost about £17.50 to post to Spain, and there was a £10 bank transfer fee to pay him as well. The 200 euros covered posting it back.

I removed the unit myself; someone somewhere else said they got a Peugeot dealer to do it for them and they charged £40.

Yep, just got the unit back. Put it back in yesterday, turned the ignition on... and had a worrying moment as nothing appeared to happen. But after about 5-10 seconds the Peugeot logo came up and it's been working fine ever since.

It's now got the latest firmware and a load of UK and European maps which is a bonus.

On the downside, when I make phone calls the person I'm talking to hears an echo of their voice, which I've heard is a 'feature' of firmware beyond v2.21. I believe it needs a calibration file which is a dealer-only activity, although I've asked the question of Autotronics. Also, the car's a hybrid and there used to be a couple of screens showing the power flow and hybrid use over time and they've both gone, so I've asked about getting those back.

Overall, getting the unit repaired was a pretty smooth process and I'd certainly recommend them if you've got a similar problem.

I have just purchased one ebay no. 332621187629

I didn't need it in the end all it was, was a blown fuse in the BSI.

It is up for grabs if anyone wants one - must be the same p/n though.
