I've found out that I need to buy a new alternator as my current one is slowly dying. In service box I typed my VIN in and it came up with 5 suggestions.

I was watching an 150amp alternator on ebay listed at supporting a 407 2.0 HDI, and 4 of the suggested part numbers matched.

So I bought it.

But as its the first time I managed to register at peugeot service box I started looking though my car's information and I noticed the the original alternator was 180 amps. So I looked at the list again and the top one did list a 180 amp alternator.

I've found a 180 amp alternator on ebay but its a remanufactured one at £280 unlike the 150 amp I just bought at £120 brand new.

Will my car be ok having a 150 amp alternator or should I cancel?

Thanks

Mike

The 150 amp one will be fine unless you have everything on at same time aircon lights wipers etc as it needs a lot of power to run everything hence the high output .

your steering probably draws 20 amps alone :)
