Why does the 407 1.6 110 Hdi S have lower emissions and tax band and higher MPG than the SE version? According to the parkers and autotrader information the difference is quite big really.
What is the difference in the spec between these two verions? As far as I can see both are pretty simmiarl (dual climate control, cruise control etc) the alloy wheels on the SE are the only difference that I can tell.

Is the S really so much cheaper to run?

Cheers

You're on the ball with the figures.... can't for the life of me see why there would be any difference though.
BTW, don't count cruise control as standard - it isn't, as I found out when looking at an SE spec and it didn't have it.

Does the SE have bigger alloys, I know with the vectra when you put 19" alloys on as an optional extra, on certain models, it went up a tax band because of emissions ?

I bought the "s"

no 17" alloys (added them)
no reversing sensors (added them)
no sliding armrest (added them)
no tyre pressure monitors (don`t want them)
no electric mirrors (don`t want them)

not saying thats the spec just what mine didn`t have , don`t know if thats standard on the "se"

ps no sat nav and screen (want one )

On the SE (well mine anyway)

17" alloys - incl.
reversing sensors - extra
sliding armrest - incl.
tyre pressure monitors - incl.
electric mirrors - incl.

Are things light auto lights, auto wipers, 4xelec windows, etc standard on all?

So there are quite a few spec differences between the two variants.... can't see how/why this would change the fuel economy though

thx

Thanks Guys

It is weird isn't it. I though that maybe the SE has a dual climate control which takes more energy?
Peugeot 407 Saloon (04 on) - Facts & Figures - Parkers

Can you please feed back what road tax bands are you on S and SE?

Good intel about the cruise not being standard as I assumed it was, at least on the SE.

Also do you know from which year the CD player can read MP3s?

Many thanks again!

I thought all 407s had dual climate control?

No cruise not standard - I did the same as you and assumed being as most do have it, yet when I went to look at one I was surprised to find a gap where the control should be :p

Mine is end of 2005 and my CD player can read MP3s.

Can't say for the 1.6, but my 2.0 SE is band G (159g/km CO2, but then that is 136hp)
