Hi !

First post, so hi everyone!

First problem too,

My 406 is tapping at what sounds like the top of the engine when it's warm, it doesnt do it when cold, it is also in time with the revs, i have changed the oil, along with a flush too but not much joy

it's a 2.0 16V engine. Other than that , it revs fine, doesnt hesitate or smoke etc, starts up always first time?, i am stumped? :(

i agree, if its a more of a clicking noise then its likely to be your valve clearances, unusual that it happens when the engine is warm.
unless of course they have been adjusted by a previous owner when the engine was hot (not unheard of) this would make the clearances correct when cold but incorrect once the engine is warm and everything has expanded.
get yourself a haynes manual, some feeler guages and a torque wrench. If the valves are screw and locknut type, its a piece of pie to do, if they are shimmed its a bit of a pain
