01 Feb 2000 There is a possibility that the brake servo valve may not function properly, resulting in loss of servo assistance to the braking system.

29 Oct 2001 31st December 1996 The camshaft drive belt may fail before the recommended replacement interval of 72,000 miles. This could result in a complete loss of engine power without warning.

03 Aug 2001 Brake servo vacuum pipe may become damaged due to chafing on engine wiring harness. This could result in a loss of braking assistance.

21 Feb 1997 Built: November 1995 and April 1996 On some 406 models the steering column wiring harness may foul on the steering column and cause electrical malfunction.

28 Aug 1997 Built: 26 and 27 February 1997 Some vehicles may have been assembled with incorrect front sub frame mountings.

28 Aug 1997 Built: 31 October and 6 November 1996 The load sensitive compensator on the braking system may have been set incorrectly.

15 Mar 1999 Built: 1 December 1996 to June 1997 There is a possibility of incorrect operation of the bonnet securing hook, which may lead to the bonnet opening whilst the vehicle is in motion if not adequately locked.

19 Jan 2001 Incorrect specification rear suspension arm pivot fixing bolts could fail under arduous operating conditions, possibly resulting in the rear wheel locking.

13 May 2003 Water may enter the engine cooling fan and cause an under-bonnet fire. VINs: VF38B4HXF81434787 to VF38FRHZF81588580, 81434787 to 81588580.

23 Dec 1998 Built: 1 September 1997 to 31 March 1998 It has been identified that there is a possibility that the inner edge of the alloy wheels may have been deformed when fitting the tyres. This may result in the wheel breaking.

01 Feb 2000 There is a possibility that the nuts securing the support for the brake pedal assembly may be loose or missing with a risk of disengagement of the support and loss of braking control during hard braking.

15 Aug 2003 There is a possibility that the connections for the side airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners may have been inverted on the connectors for the airbag ECU. In the case of an impact there is a risk that the incorrect side airbag could be triggered

406 SELF applied ABS brakes while driving!

Hello, I need some help please.
Yesterday my 406 SELF applied the ABS brakes While I was driving off, likely in 2 gear taking off, all of a 'clunk n shudder' and the brakes applied stopped me in my tracks! I know I didn't have a foot on the breaks I was driving slowly around a roundabout. I stopped, restarted, slowly took off again, and it happened again, harder! so hard the tyres squealed! After some testing, I had to slowly go home 20ks in selected 3 gear. Any ideas? Highly dangerous! If this is a recall issue, can we still recall in 2013?
