The reluctor rings on the front driveshafts are split ill bet. Get another garage also I think if they don't know the basics of how abs works. This could also be a wiring problem. Get a proper diagnostic check done and post up the faults.

Just out of curiosity when you changed the brakes you didn't bleed them for any reason? I've seen people get air in the system and cause abs and loss of power are the brakes spongy

the abs will just pump air if this was the case. no throw up abs lights.

david : yes. i will check with another. im in sri lanka and hard to find good specialists.

chico: no. no bleeding. but abt 6k km back brake horse blown. but had it done and no issue up untill this pad change.

 

Bubble may have gone back far enough when the cylinders were pushed back to accommodate new brakes I'd try a good bleed look for a bleed around the abs controller.

Although could be what was previously mentioned

 

You didnt open the brake circuit did you. If not then thats not the problem. Check the rings on the driveshafts.

did you check abs unit??

 

Yes, I did check ABS with my previous mechanic, but he said no issue diagnosed(checked with SW diagnosis as well)
But as david said, I'll be going to another one and at 1st will check on ABS wheels/ rings.
But the garage guy is free only on wednesday and I'm not free on that day.
Will update on his details.
Note:
I did the BSI reset with mechanic friend of mine. It didnt help. Car is same as the previous

 

Hi, just to update you on the topic;
went to other mechanic. Scanner does not gives any error. He said he will check on whether it's ABS control unit issue.
Hopefully he will fix

Well I have worked on a 406 hdi with a friend who had an abs fault light we tried sensors etc could not fix it.

While doing the repairs we spotted some of the tie rods and a ball joint had wear so they got changed then tracked! ! abs light out still checks on dash but goes out as car moves off, been good for about five months now.

May not help but check if the bars etc have movement

yeah checked all - but no real root cause. scanned with two techos as well. no answer.
only thing left is try changing the abs pump. trial and error mode

Sorry .. I forgot to reply on this..
Problem was ultimately at ABS pump.. changed with a 2nd hand part. now it's ok..
