Hi
after an engine rebuild, i have a rock solid brake pedal, which goes if I allow the engine to idle and biuld up presure in the servo. Mine has a vacum pump on the end of the cam shaft
However after long use of the brakes the pedal goes hard again.
Looking at the pipe that connects to the servo it seems to be a push fit
It only has on push fit lug, the other may be missing.
Has anyone had problems with these fittings. If this is loose I assume that the vacum pump may be not working at full presure hence the hard peddle which disappears with engine speed.
Any thoughts

Remove the pipe and run the engine with pipe off cover the intake of the vac pump with your finger you should feel vac building if not pump is stuffed.

If you feel vac then check the pipe as they can get clogged with dirt reducing vac

Vacuum pump needs a good oil supply internally as its the oil that makes the vacuum so check the filter on the inlet from the head is not blocked pump needs removed for this.
