I have a 308SW that i've owned for approx 5 years (2008 model), since we have had it the Turbo has been very intermittant, most of the time the car seems sluggish to accelerate quickly however occasionally when starting the car in the morning from cold, the turbo will kick in and acceleration is rapid for a minute or so then goes back to being sluggish. I have sprayed some EGR cleaner into the turbo where the pipe goes into it which brought on the management light and depolution filter blocked message until my wife took it for a blow down the motorway which cleared the message and warning light. The garage i took it to last year stated it may just be a issue with this type of car which i just thought "here we go again, trying to fob us off". Can anyone shed some light on why it does this. I have noticed that there is quite a bit of excess oil in the turbo hose pipe (white part)when i took it off.

The oil in the pipes is pretty normal

Without a diagnostic it’s pretty hard to narrow down

Have you tried disconnecting the mag sensor and see how it runs?

Next check all the vacuum pipes. If you say it runs ok sometimes then I’d probably narrow this out

What does the tempreture gauge do is it relevant to the tempreture?

Another thing could be a sticky vanes on the turbo

With your engine the turbos at the back so a bit more difficulty testing this

Thanks for the reply, is the MAG sensor the same as MAF?
Yes, the turbo is very intermittant, most time very sluggish but does kick in (sometimes....when engine is cold, first thing etc) you can feel the surge for a minute or two then goes sluggish after that and runs sluggish like it throughout the day after. The temp guage climbs normally to 90 then stays there all the time, never moves. I did spray some EGR cleaner into the turbo whilst my wife was keeping the revs up a bit, should i spray the whole can into it?
