am after some advice again, am looking to upgrade my car (307) to a 308 the only ones I can find are 1.6 90bhp and 110bhp HDi lumps, I was always going to stay clear from these but looks like I have no choice, the ones I have been
looking at are the sport models they look like the only one to get as the GT HDi with leather are rare round my parts apart from one 308 2.0 136bhp GT HDI with full leather ect, I plan to install my own cd player and sound so am not fussed on satnav.

what I do like is leather as the last few cars I had all came with leather this
can be installed later date if I really wanted,

what I do like about the 1.6 HDi is the fap can be removed and the egr can be blanked and a remap puts out the same power as the 136bhp but mine was remapped to 160bhp am not looking to go all out power but I do like having the power when its needed,

I was told that the 1.6 110bhp has a duel mass flywheel but the one from a 90bhp will fit on right away so if that needs done then am not out loads of cash doing a clutch

is there anything else I need to look out on the 308 1.6 HDi lumps maybe I have missed ?

The 1.6 hdi is fine if the services have been done you can normally tell if it's looked after

If none of the services have been done at 12k walk away

Look for original turbo

Look for leaking injectors

The 1.6 isn't as quick as the 2.0 but they are really smooth cars

Mines mapped and is quick enough

Oh and by the time the 308 came out the bonkers 20k services had been changed to 12k if it's 20k walk away

Mines a 08 and has been done at 12k

Sorry to take this a little off-topic.

After reading this topic, are you saying some of these cars can be made to perform faster?

I have a Peugeot 308 Active e-HDi 112 EGC (semi-automatic) 5dr (2012).

Whilst it's 112bhp, my previous Vauxhall Astra SXi (115bhp, 2008, semi-automatic) accelerated from the line much quicker. This thing just wheel-spins.

Can anything be done with my Peugeot 308?

If it wheel spins it's mainly tyres

If it's mapped may do the same thing

Monty,

the first I have been looking at is 113k and its on the original turbo now sure about the injectors yet and original clutch am bit worried that this might be
due soon as the DMF flywheel are on this 110bhp lump,

my plain is to remap it and remove the DPF filter and EGR system and from
what I see online remove the filter inside the turbo return line?

also might even do a carbon clean as well just so I know the engine is clean intake side then do a few oil changes then I will start a 7/9k oil service life.

one thing to ask what sort of mpg are you getting on yours?

the other 308 is on 80k and with a 6speed box am waiting on the call as they were going to check to see what has been done before I take the 90mile trip

My mums 1.6hdi was on 150k with original turbo I did the oil and genuine filter taking the oil out of the dipstick hole (gets everything out) every 6k

The 6 speed will probably be nicer to drive but mines a 5 speed sport for some reason

Clutch all depends mine seems original at 100 k but is a little heavy. Depends on the money your spending really

If the 6 speed isn't a lot more for 35k less mileage if it's the same condition go for that one

I paid 1625 for mine with 98k on it

As regards of mileage about 50 on the run depends really which motorways I use

A 90 will be better on fuel but as a standard 110 mine felt proper slow

As regards of the filter in the banjo bolt I did take mine out. But the last 2 1.6hdis I ran I forgot when removing the dpf

(The bolt is behind) and there both still running

If you look on google there's a video where someone measure oil pressure before and after the banjo removal. It was almost double

My banjo filter looked like new

Monty, thanks for the reply great info from yourself,

the 6 speed one is £2500
and the 1st one is £2000

the only thing I cant find is the spec sheet on the sport models, I know
they come with alloys and esp cruise control and electric windows all round,
do they come with auto lights wipers ect?

I use to drive my Dads C4 1.6HDi it was remapped around 140bhp it was quick
alright I find the 2.0 nice to drive and plenty of power but I find that you have to push it more to get the power out of it and the 1.6 are kind of ready the power range of you know what I mean then its been around 8 years since I was in a 1.6 hdi he never had any issues apart from the control body doser flaps but this was fixed with the dealer with a new part no questions or hassle as they knew it was a fault on some of the engines.

when you changed the oil on yours were you using 10w40 or 5w30 oil some online say it does not mater if you remove the FAP

I always run the 5w30 ford spec as it's really thin. Sometimes I chuck in Semi synthetic if it's on offer you don't need low saps if the dpf has been removed doesn't matter as I do every 6k

This is mine and I'm sure it's a sport

It has esp cruise control and limiter which works well

It has electric windows all round

Mine doesn't have auto light s or wipers it does have daylight running lights though

As with all peugeots every model seems different even under the same category

your spot on with the extras as I seen a sport with full leather and heated as well as digital heating control 2 zones ect

am use to the auto lights and wipers on my XSI and with it having the leather seats I will miss them but in time I might put a set in, I also like the auto folding mirrors again am sure this can be made to fit lol

I will be doing mine every 7/8k I think I do that on my 2.0 HDi,

coming from a 307 to a 308 do you think its a good upgrade as I was looking

at golf but I rather stick with Peugeot as I have the computer ect and I do enjoy the looks of them

I was going to try and get a 307 phase 2 but hard to pick up with low miles and I do admit the 308 just looks far nicer and the last few days all I have seen is 308!

I have seen a 308 phase 2 with the daytime running lights beside the fogs, but its a 1.6 HDi Auto with triptronic on the stalks looks nice am not sure about Peugeot automatics lol

I was trying to see if anyone has done any retro fits on the 308 and cant see any so far I would add the auto lights and wipers ect as well as the alarm system,

am into my sounds as well in my car so after I get a new car the first few weeks are ripping out and installing a system and sound dead the car lol

If you only have music at a reasonable level the 308 as standard is very good much better design then the 307 the speakers in a better position

As regards automatic I'm not sure what there like There's loads of newer ones about

I do prefer the 308 like you I was looking at a few 307s as well

Hi Monty,

was my luck that the one I wanted to go and see was gone, now that could be a good thing as I have seen a nice 308 GT HDi 2.0 136bhp with all the toys and more that I would use am going to see this weekend the good part that
it has a full dealer history and most of the stuff has just been done the last 10k

because its the GT line there is no 1.6 hdi that I have found am not saying I don't like the 2.0 hdi just would have liked to try a 1.6 hdi as I would like to
do some upgrades turbo side and intercooler bits i could always do this on the 2.0,
