Hello All,

Re: can the cat be replaced without taking off the front bumper?

I own a 308 that likes to play 'guess my problem is this week!?' Game with me by beeping up the cryptic 'anti-pollution system faulty' and throwing my money at it trying to find out!... A few weeks ago I had it to the local garage for diagnostics and the machanic said 'catalytic con needs replacing.'

This car has 52,000 miles on the clock, I'm surprised the cat has gone but if there's one thing I've learnt about these engines is expect the unexpected!

My question is, can the cat be replaced without taking off the front bumper? It looks awkward to get to, is it a straightforward job? I've looked on the net and there's no information that I can see about replacing them. Any help much appreciated!

:)

Hi...before you 'throw' any more money I would have a peugeot diagnostics done as some generic code readers will give incorrect information...ie..it will show a cat problem but what has caused that to happen....the ..guess this week ..may show you that the original fault was never cured..good luck tho

Thanks for your reply. Yes, Inthink there are some unresolved historic issues with the engine that I need to look into, but if I did turn out to be the cat, would the front of the car need to be removed to get to it?
