Hi,

I recently acquired a 2004 Peugeot 307 cc. The car has been sitting idle for years and is in perfect condition, inside and out.

First step was to replace the battery as I had problems getting the car started.

On the first big run, all of these faults start showing up .. the engine light comes on, then anti-pollution fault, catalyctic convertor fault, etc.

It had been sitting with minimum oil, so filled the oil to the max, filled the petrol tank and put in some Redex to clean out the tank.

It works like a dream now and no faults showing. The only problem I have is that it's using twice as much fuel as it should. It should be 30mpg+ but I'm getting half of that. I'm pretty sure there is no leak as it can sit in the same place for a day or two and no signs of that.

Does anyone have suggestions for simple maintenance or does this need to go to a garage?

Any suggestions welcome.

Lalah

As usual you have not given us much to go on your not telling us what engine you have but i am assuming 2 litre and if so the best you will ever see is 25mpg no matter what other figures say and how you drive makes little difference.

The 1.6 can be a little better but probably 30 at best its a big heavy car.
