Hi I am desperate for some advice. 18 months ago my 2006 307cc started very occasionally "skipping" on long journeys - it felt like a missed beat, revs dropped to nothing then straight back up and drove fine again. This only happened on long journeys which I hardly ever do. However over last few weeks this has happened very frequently on short journeys and on 3 occasions the car has gone into limp mode. If I switch off and restart it drives ok for a while. There has been no engine management light and my local garage did a diagnostic test which showed no faults. It may be that I need to take it to a Peugeot garage but the two nearest to me have closed down! Can anyone advise what my local garage should be looking at?

Get a proper Peugeot diagnostic check done. Generic code readers may not read specific faults.

Does it do it right after changing gear and you're accelerating away, around 1500-2000 rpm?

And is it a 1.6 engine?

If the answer to those two is yes then search "EGR blanking", its a very common issue.

So today I paid £72 for a diagnostic test (they wanted £108!!) at a Peugeot garage which showed up NO FAULTS!!! For the past week it has been ok but the week before it went into limp mode twice and "skipped" a lot. Anyone know why faults won't show up before I waste any more money?!
