Just bought a tow bar for my 2006 307 se. But was told by the fella that from 2005 onwards I need to buy a 'smartbox' at the cost of £50 extra to run it? Anyone have this problem? ATM i have the towbar and standard wiring kit but dont wanna fit it unless i know for sure it will work or should i pay the extra £50. My mechanic doesnt know if the wiring has changed in the 307 from 05

from 2005 the wiring in 307's went to full multiplexed (or full canbus whatever its called)

I believe the smartboxes are put in to make sure the correct signals regarding voltages are still being sent back to the cars computers etc etc, i've definately heard of them before!

Being a 2006 model you definately have the new wiring so i would assume they arent trying to rip you off :thumb:

see here, theres mention of needing to have the cars BSI configured as well!! :O
