I need to remove the steering wheel over on my 307SW. It is an airbag model.

In the manual, it says remove the battery positive lead and leave the car to stand for a few minutes before starting work on the airbag.

(It also says to remove the centre console and unplug the airbag control unit as well - but surely that is going OTT if the battery is disconnected though?)

It says to use a thin bladed screwdriver in the holes at the back of the steering wheel to release the clips holding the airbag in place - but do the clips need to be pressed any particular direction ?

I don't really want to be poking about in there blindly and risk firing the bag off.

Any other tips ?

I am also puzzled why Mr Haynes recommends reconnecting the battery positive terminal last, other than the fact it is the easiest to get to on the 307..... I was always told to reconnect the negative terminal last on a battery to prevent spikes and sparks .... ?

Stubbo you are a star - thank you very much indeed mate :thumb:

I would have been pushing at those clips in the wrong direction ....

As it was, the the fiddliest part was figuring out how the airbag connector unclipped from the back of the unit without blowing my fingers off

Job sorted
