Hi All - just found your site and have a query re-paintwork on the wifes 307.

It is a 53 plate Envy, silver metallic paint and over the past couple of months we have noticed that paint around the windscreen is now peeling on the drivers side.

We have a query in with Halfords as she has used their overnight de-icer product and we want to confirm whether this can cause a problem or not.

Just wondered if anyone has any experience of paint peeling on their vehicles so we might get some info as to whether it may be a Peugeot issue or possibly the Halfords product. The paint has gone back to the yellow'ish undercoat and seems to be continuing.

Thoughts apprecated.

The paint on the modern generation pugs is excellent, and faults are uncommon.

It's also rare for deicer of any type to cause issues, although the general wisdom is not to let any such products come into cointact with paintwork.

Without the luxury of being able to examine the paint, my guess the paint has bee disturbed in some way, such as by the fitting of a new screen, or that part of the car has had a paint repair and it's not up to standard.

Thanks for the response chopper1192.

No work carried out on paintwork as we have owned since new so no real reason for paint disturbance. No new windscreen or paint repair of any kind.

Some models (307s, early 407sw's etc) suffered problems around fittings, such as tailgate handles, but this wasn't a paint defect but a mechanical problem caused by the fitting itself damaging the surface of the paint over time.

Murielson, do you have a picture cos we're all just really guessing at the moment?
