Hi all
I had a guy come around to make me a new key, previous key missing.....long story. Anyway, he was unable to code my key in to use the remote so I have to use the key in the door lock but it only opens that door and when I am inside I am unable to unlock any other doors until I start car and use the lock button on the dash. Any ideas of what can be wrong? Thanks for looking.

Further to this....when I restart my car the radio/language etc needs resetting and the wipers switch on for a few times. Connected?

I’d try a bsi reset first

Only reason a key wouldn’t work the circuit board isn’t any good or pre coded to another car

The code you have isn’t actually for your car ie. Ecu change at some point

Hi Monty9120
Excuse my ignorance, but what is a BSI reset? Also, regards the code is for another car...my key is from a professional auto key specialist and he tried to code the key in many times, do you think he may have used the wrong code? Do you think the door opening problem, the radio/language reset, wipers problem is all related?
Many thanks for your help.

Does the car actually start? The thing about the electrics is odd but search bsi reset online and see how you get on

I meant if they used a code for your vin number and it’s wrong ie ecu change at some point highly unlikely but never had a failed key before if the key and circuit board were new and the code was correct

You have 2 issues the clock resetting is caused by power drop either bad battery or bad wiring earths usually

Your key is not remote locking as there is more than 1 flavour and he coded in the wrong type or he did not sync the remote correctly only unlocking drivers door with lock is correct they all do that if you open with the key

Monty9120....yes the car starts ok first time, but every now and again the engine just spins and does not start until you switch ignition off and then try again and it starts. I think the guy who done me the key tried a BSI reset but will look it up and let you know. Thanks.

There’s a main earth normally bolted to the top of the gearbox

Take battery out. Take the Earth off make sure it’s all clean and the connectors good if not replace. Then check the actual earth to the battery. Does it actually fit tight if it’s loose at all replace the fitting and try again
