Hi!

It appears my nearside (left side) dipped beam headlamp has stopped working! The car in question is:
Peugeot 307 'Sport' trim
'56 plate (facelift)
Factory XENON HID bulb for dipped beam (manual levelling)

I've tried changing the fuse mentioned in the manual: Number 17 (15amp) labelled 'left dipped headlamp' which hasn't worked. If the HID has gone then I've been put off trying to DYI as my manual states:

'WARNING: RISK OF ELECTROCUTION. Xenon bulbs must be changed by a PEUGEOT dealer.'

Also, the Peugeot manual mentions just removing style trims to remove the bulbs but my Haynes manual says the whole front bumper needs to come off! Would I need to change both bulbs at the same time? Eurocarparts says the bulb is £107.99!!

Any advice? I'm also tempted to swap my Halogen side lights with LED units, has anyone done this?

I had a bulb fail on my 508 GT, I was buggered if I was paying £100+ a pair so I ordered a pair of 6000k bulbs from HIDS direct. About £25 ish delivered.

Are you 100% sure they are hids? They should have auto levelling and headlight washers if they are? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I agree a local specialist offers fitment but specifically puts the risk of fines or penalties on the car owner

Fwiw the 307sw I owned the area highlighted looked identical in yet i am moderately certain they were not xenon

About the year of mine ie 2006 a friend had a Renault with xenon at MOT they always checked levelling and headlamp washers

If i could i would certainly of bought cheaper bulbs had the need ever come up

Have you got a picture of the bulb you removed?
No as I’ve not removed anything yet. The picture in my original post is of the actual light cluster. The one I’ve circled is the bulb that has gone. That looks like a HID to me but maybe it’s not?

They are projectors not HID i had a facelift CC same lights no ballasts just a normal bulb just like 807 and 406 coupe projectors

407 coupe has HID on some versions as does later 607s but most of these lights are just projector lenses

My facelift 307 had the exact same headlight unit. I'm nearly sure those are just a standard h7 bulb.

You guys are right! I’ve certainly learnt something new today. I’ll invest in some OSRAM Nightbreakers and upgrade the W5W sidelights to Philips whitelight.

How hard is it to change the bulbs in the 307 facelift? I hope I don’t have to remove bumpers!!

Forum win! Nightbreakers are my favourite bulb. Powerbulbs usually has some good deals on them.

If memory serves me right the bulbs can be changed without dismantling much. Been a while, but I think some fancy arm twisting will do the trick.

I’ve just replaced the bulbs, they were halogens in projector housing as suggested. Installation was very easy so I took the time to replace all these:
H1 dipped beams
H7 main beam
W5W side lights

With Osram night breakers. I’m hoping it’ll make a notable improvement in visibility.

Thanks for all your help!
