Ok, I have searched the threads and can find blowers working just on number 4 setting, but mine is completely the opposite.

last week during the hard morning frosts on my way to work my old trusty 90hp would not work on blow number 4, I noticed that it was also hesitating in actually working full stop?

after a min or so running the engine it would allow me to switch on but only 1,2,3 will blow....4 has given up on me (my old trusty 307 is giving me stick)

so is this a resistor prob or a switch problem?

ttfn :)

Pull out the resistor pack and look for damage, check with a multimeter.
Thanks gibbo, I was hoping someone would say "change the switch" rather than me having to pull dash apart to get to the resistor pack.

oh well, these things are sent to try us. :(
