Hi All

My Grandma's 307 hdi has had a fault with her abs sensors which comes up braking fault and abs fault. She took it to the garage to be diagnosed which came up with left rear sensor fault. We replaced the sensor and set all the correct gaps as advised. There was still a fault so looked deeper in and found the 30 amp maxi fuse had blown. We replaced this and checked all of the wiring for continuity and still the problem persists.

So question is will the ECU keep the faults on until reset or will they disappear once the fault is fixed? And if I does require resetting is it another £40 at the garage?

ABS faults will clear once driven IF the fault is cured if it is not clearing there may be more than just the sensor causing it.

So do you suggest I take it for a spin around the block to see if it clears it?

If it has not been driven then yes as without all 4 wheels turning the ecu cannot complete a self test

i have had 1 307 that wouldnt self clear. i had to clear the faults in planet

i think what gibbo means by one of us is someone using pp2000 or diag box

Right, been working on the car all day and so far have:

Replaced the rear pass sensor which was diagnosed as faulty on the diagnostic by the garage, cleaned the hub and checked the air gap
Checked the wiring leading from the ABS module to the sensor for continuity and all ok
Removed the plug to the sensor and soldered the wires together
Checked plug at ABS module and cleaned
Replaced blown ABS/ESP 30amp maxi fuse
Put the car back together and took for a spin
I still have the problem and now the speedo has stopped working!

Any other ideas?

Sounds like n/s/f wheel speed sensor at fault.
On some models, I don't know which the n/s/f sensor runs the speedo as well.
