My 2002 2.0 HDi 110 307 sw clutch has gone. I’m looking at replacing the dmf with a smf. I’ve seen a few kits on ebay for ~£100 for example this one:

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/371311538942

Which is listed as fitting

Model: 307 (3A/C)
Engine Size: 2.0 HDi 110
Year Fitment: 08-2000 To

However when I contacted them they said I would actually need this one:

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/123891538437

Which is more than twice the price!

I can’t see any difference between the two of them. Does anyone know of a cheap smf conversion kit that would fit my car? Also what are the differences in these kits? Could I use a 406 conversion kit as there seems to be plenty of these for sale for around £130.

The simply way is to buy a secondhand 90 bhp flywheel and std 90 bhp clutch kit and fit as a direct swap I did this to two 307 2.0 hdi with no issues in over 100k miles

Thanks for the link, I’ve just purchased it. Any idea what clutch I should use with it? Would it just be a HDi 90 clutch kit?

That what I used for my conversion std luk 90 kit. Maybe worth looking at part numbers on plate and cover supplied with flywheel to be 100%

Thank you I will check them. I’m going to need a release bearing as well. I managed to get the plate under the gearbox off tonight which was tricky thanks to the turbo to inter cooler pipe. (I couldn’t see how to remove this as the clip holding it is right at the back of the engine).

When I removed it I found a rivet head and small shards of metal. So I’m guessing the dmf has broken up.

A three piece kit should have the bearing. Replace the sleeve on the input shaft as well
